The Master of Science in Finance Evening is aimed at professionals of related careers or other areas, with a certain level of work experience that seek to develop their professional activities in the financial field. Through a solid academic background and a pragmatic orientation, professionals will be prepared to identify, confront and solve the problems of the area under study.

  • Theory of Finance: This course introduces the core theory and practical of modern financial economics and financial management, with a focus on the study of the role of financial markets in the economy, equilibrium pricing of risky assets, asset valuation, and capital budgeting.
  • Microeconomics: The course covers the way in which resources are allocated in markets, relating the theory to the explanation of the phenomena of normal occurrence. The course is structured in such a way that it does not require prior knowledge of economics. It is important that the student has an adequate handling of graphical analysis and algebra.
  • Investment (uncertainty in information): This course provides a thorough theoretical and practical grounding in the key aspects of investment analysis and portfolio management. The programme will consists of the investment background, capital market and the importance of financial information in the EE.FF of corporations. You will become competent at applying quantitative skills to make investment decisions and financial planning.
  • Planning, Control and Financial Analysis: The Capital Market is nourished by financial information to estimate the value of the assets. In an effort to anticipate market variations, the agents project the financial information of the companies. There will be a strong emphasis on; the use of public financial information EE.FF, of IPSA companies and comments on news of companies appearing in the financial press.
  • Financial Econometrics: combines a practical approach to finance with a strong theoretical approach in econometrics, students learn how to analyse financial data and are introduced to some of analysis models. The objective of the course is to extend your knowledge and equip you with methods and techniques that allow you to analyse and use econometric instruments that will give a better understanding of how the financial series are analyzed.
  • Derivatives Assets: This course for students who want to learn and analyze the concepts and theories related to derivative assets. The aim of this course is to develop some of the necessary techniques to assess derivative contracts.
  • Corporate Finance: the course is designed to introduce students to the theory and practice of corporate finance including future and present values concepts; the course begins with a conceptual analysis of financial decisions and their impact on shareholder wealth, then consider two major long-term financial decisions (capital structure and dividend policy).
  • Financial Risk Management:This course provides a theoretical and empirical insight to financial risks. It will give you an understanding of risk management practices, and raise your awareness of measured and risk identification. We will focus on market risk, credit and operational. Moreover, the tools and methods for identifying risk factors and coverage.
  • Capital Markets:This course provides an introduction to capital markets and the principles of asset valuation from an applied perspective and provide sufficient background knowledge for students seeking an overview of capital markets to analysis of the financial situation and the impact of monetary policy on the capital market.

The total duration of the program is estimated and may vary depending on holidays, calendars, changes of decree, and the extension of the Thesis or Equivalent Formative Activity.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional title, granted in Chile or abroad.
  • Work experience with a minimum of 2 years. Activities of equivalent relevance will also be considered.


  • Study of the applicant’s background by the Academic Council.
  • Proof of general knowledge and logic.
  • Personal interview.
  • Decision phase which may include admission, conditional admission or non-acceptance of the program.

  • Certificate of title or original university degree and legalized photocopy. Foreign applicants must legalize original title at the Chilean Consulate in their country of residence and at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Santiago, once residing in Chile.
  • Original Notes Certificate. Foreign applicants must also submit a legalized copy.
  • Ranking of the University of Origin.
  • Those who request the homologation of courses, must present the detail of the undergraduate study program of the courses presented for homologation (academic pensum). Each case will be evaluated by the Academic Committee of the program.
  • Photocopy card, or passport in the case of foreign applicants, on both sides.
  • Currículum vitae.
  • Two letters of recommendation. They are made through an electronic format, so contact details of two work or academic references (name, position or activity, company, address, telephone, e-mail) are requested, who provide the information via the web.
  • Foreign applicants must submit compulsory health insurance.
  • Application fee: $ 50,000 or $ 100, non-refundable amount. The checks or vale vista must be extended to the name of Universidad de Chile.
