The objective of the Master in Public Policy is to train professionals capable of designing public policies and leading successfully their implementation. In particular, the Master aims to prepare his students by equipping them with the tools they need to accelerate development and improve the quality of life, with special emphasis on developing countries.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional title, granted in Chile or abroad with training in Social Sciences.

  • Two letters of recommendation. At the moment of applying the applicant must enter the requested data of his two advisers. The nomination system will send each of your referrers an email to respond to your letter of recommendation.

  • Attach legalized copy before notary of university degrees. Foreign applicants must legalize their academic degrees at the Chilean Consulate in their country of origin.
  • Certificate of qualifications obtained in the different programs of study, scale of applied notes and graduation ranking.
  • Curriculum vitae.
  • EXADEP Exam Results
  • Students must present a certificate or document proving English proficiency at a reading level.
  • Proof of payment application fee: $ 50,000 Chilean pesos, non-refundable amount. The checks or vale vista must be extended to the name of Universidad de Chile.

NOTE: The processing of the resident student visa for foreigners may be requested from the country of residence once the letter of acceptance is received in the program. More information on the process here.


  • Study of the applicant’s background by the Academic Council.
  • Decision phase that may include admission, conditional admission or non-acceptance of the program.
  • Acceptance or rejection results will be reported to your email.
  • Upon acceptance of the program, the applicant will receive by e-mail an Acceptance Letter and the financing conditions, which will indicate the total value of the program and the deadlines to formalize its enrollment.


  • Value Fee: 448 UF (you can check the value of the Development Unit (UF) here).

The internal students who enter the program may approve courses of the first year for activities carried out during the undergraduate in the Faculty of Economics and Business, previous authorization of the Academic Director.

Internal students who decide to continue their postgraduate studies may pay the program fee within a period of up to two years from the date of entry into the program. The payment will be adjusted according to the accumulated inflation of the previous year.

In addition to the tuition fees, all students must pay annually the Basic Enrollment Right set by the University of Chile.

Internal Scholarships: Up to three scholarships per year will be awarded based on criteria of academic excellence. This benefit must be remunerated through working hours in the Faculty of Economics and Business, as research assistants, undergraduate / postgraduate teaching or support in the management. To apply for this benefit you must attach a scholarship application along with the application to the program (in the same application form).
