Duration: 12 months.
Schedule: Classes three to four times a week from 18:30 to 21:50 hrs. Saturdays are open for assistantships and / or taking exams.

STUDENT PROFILE

The Evening MBA is aimed at professional with a degree in Commercial engineering, Industrial Civil engineering, Information and Management Control and / or Auditors who seek to enhance their professional career, becoming leaders in different organizations or starting their own business. The program considers a comprehensive development, which reinforces the knowledge in the various areas of Administration (Finance, HR, Marketing, Strategy, and Logistics), at the same time, promotes the development of managerial skills

It should be noted that ICCI professionals who have obtained their degree through a system of pursuing studies or executive modality, must deliver previously the study programs of the courses that must be approved by their university, with which the Academic Committee will evaluate each case and will determine if the student qualifies or not to belong to this modality, otherwise, must apply to the modality of Other Professionals.

LEVELING COURSES

  • Case Study Learning: The main purpose of this workshop is to prepare the students in the analysis, discussion and report of cases. Also, students are able to understand the specificity of the case method in business teaching.
  • Statistical Methods: The contents that will be presented in the course are based on concepts and methods linked to the decision process, providing basic tools for the analysis important information of the administration area. The course program includes a week of probability and statistical classes and three weeks of various topics related to optimization.
  • Accounting: The purpose of the course is develops understanding of the information contained in the different EE.FF prepared by the companies, that allow analyzing of the data to encourage the process of decision-making. The course begins with a description of the basic and normative concepts of accounting, finalizing in the analysis of financial ratios.
  • Microeconomics: The course covers microeconomic foundations and explores variations, including the analysis of how resources are allocated in the markets. Students will also explore, the theory with the explanation of the phenomena of normal occurrence. The course is structured in such a way that it does not require prior knowledge of economics. It is important that the student has an adequate handling of graphical analysis and algebra.

BASIC FORMATION

  • Management Perspective: The fundamental purpose of this course is the delivery of concepts and tools for the development of skills that allow the task of the management function to be addressed in a solid and efficient way. A global and strategic perspective will be the priority of this course.
  • Marketing Management: This course is designed for people who have superficial knowledge about the commercial management of the companies in which they work, but require an underpinning knowledge and understanding of business and how marketing theories can be strategically applied to organizations. Through the use of a wide range of approaches and e-learning forums, you will obtain a more global vision of the activities of a company around the development of products or services. The course will allow you to develop a language of communication with business counterparts, in order to contribute to the development of coherent strategies for the entire enterprise.
  • Finance Management: This theoretical and practical course offers a foundational understanding of financial management. It touches on all areas of finance, including, fundamentals of financial economics, focusing on the study of the role of financial markets in the economy, risk portfolio decisions, investments and models of financial asset price determination.
  • Market and Company: The course provides conceptual tools and applications to analyze the structure and competition of markets. It analyzes situations of asymmetries of cost, concentration, substitution, barriers to the entry and exit of an industry and pricing.
  • Human Resources Management: The purpose of this course is to provide a global vision of the importance of people management in contemporary organizations for the implementation of the organizational strategy, also identify clearly the issues involved in managing difficult people and situations. You will learn some essential strategies for managing teams, leading team members and enhancing team performance.
  • Financial Information for Decision Making: The course comprises three core sections. The first one reviews the importance of the Capital Market, describing its members, reviewing cases that occurred in reality, ending with the review of the concept of market efficiency. Subsequently, it begins with the Analysis of EE.FF., in addition to the revision of financial indexes. The last part of the course is associated with the financial planning, and the projection of the EE.FF.
  • Strategic Management:Strategic management is appreciated as a challenge for those leaders who seek to excel in the business world. The course then introduces you to the decision making process involved in strategic management. The objective of this course is to provide knowledge, strengthen skills, provide tools and increase thinking skills, you will learn about important decision making steps, from determining the mission or purpose of an organization to specifying objectives and goals to formulating a strategic plan. The course has a practical and conceptual approach, allowing to stimulate specific skills for management and leadership with a strategic sense.

ADVANCED TRAINING

  • Strategic Direction:The fundamental purpose of this course is the delivery of concepts and tools for the development skills that allow to tackle the tasks of the directive function in a solid and efficient way, particularly, in the analysis, formulation and execution of strategies, in order to be applied in practice and to be able to monitor its effectiveness based primarily on the achievement of business objectives. The content of the course will allow the student to acquire enough knowledge to understand the philosophy behind the management system of the company. The classes have an emphasis on the analysis, application and decision making considering cases of real companies.
  • Strategic Finances: This course aims to provide students with a global vision of the theoretical and practical elements in the main long-term decisions of companies. The course begins with a conceptual analysis of financial decisions and their impact on shareholder wealth, and then considers two of the major long-term financial decisions (capital structure and dividend policy). Finally, the course includes an introduction of company’s valuation, considering the approach of discounted cash flows.
  • Operations Management:Our objective in this course is to introduce you to concepts and techniques related to the design, planning, control, and improvement the decision process in the area of operation management. This course will provide a conceptual framework to study the process of planning and operation decisions, through the study of critical processes, project management models and real case studies in different companies, showing the impact of operations management in diverse decision problems of companies.
  • Strategic Marketing: To be successful in today’s highly competitive market, companies need the ability to attract, select, capture, satisfy, retain and develop the relation with customers to increase the profitability in the business. For this, it is necessary to have a market-oriented and customer-oriented approach. As a result, you develop a solid understanding of value proposition and effective marketing strategies as well as design strategy implementation plan of target segment. The course is based on the theoretical-practical study of marketing from the perspective of the philosophy of business management oriented to the market and the value of the client.
  • Strategic Human Resources: The competitive world that organizations must face, demand managers with self-awareness of individual and group competencies in possess of leadership techniques with practical advice and individual insights to manage people effectively. This course will link your personal leadership to the performance of others. This course offers a review of the concepts and principles of Organizational Behavior that play a central role in the understanding of organizational phenomena and the development of competencies.
  • Ethics, CSR and Corporate Governance: A company that is projected for the 21st century must take into account that the sustainability of its institutional mission or objective is achieved through a good management of the business environment. It is in the outskirts of the organization where today are the greatest vulnerability of any type of company independent of its location, size and objective. Knowing why the company today should assume this role is the objective of this course.

The total duration of the program is estimated and may vary depending on holidays, calendars, changes of decree, and the extension of the Thesis or Equivalent Formative Activity.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional title, granted in Chile or abroad.
  • Work experience with a minimum of 3 years. Activities of equivalent relevance will also be considered.

  • Those who request the homologation of courses, must present the details of the undergraduate study program of the courses presented for accreditation (academic pensum). Each case will be evaluated by the Academic Committee of the program.
  • Photocopy of passport or passport in the case of foreign applicants, on both sides
  • Curriculum vitae.
  • Two letters of recommendation. They are made through an electronic format, so contact details of two work or academic references (name, position or activity, company, address, telephone, e-mail) are requested, who provide the information via the web.
  • Foreign applicants must submit compulsory health insurance.
  • Application fee: $ 50,000 or $ 100, non-refundable amount. The checks or vale vista must be extended to the name of Universidad de Chile.

The School of Economics and Business of the University of Chile has a long history, it has trained outstanding professionals in the field of business and economic management.

The high-level academics have degrees from diverse universities of Europe and the USA; The theoretical-practical balance, being among the best universities in Latin America, and the pluralist vision of its professors, professionals and students, generates a unique environment that allows to enrich the knowledge that is delivered in each program of the School.

Since then, the Faculty has been accredited by the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), a body that certifies the quality and excellence of the business education that its delivery for the faculty, and to which belongs only 5% of the best business schools in the world.

The minimum requirements to apply are:

  • To have the degree of bachelor or equivalent professional title, granted in Chile or abroad.
  • Relevant work experience. The MBA in its Evening format requires 3 years of minimum experience, while the Sunrise, Weekend and Antofagasta formats along with the dual degree Panama and Global MBA formats require 5 years of experience. Relevant activities will also be considered.
The process involves the following steps:

  • Delivery of the required background and payment of the application fee ($ 50,000 or 100 USD, non-refundable amount) by the applicant.
  • Study of the background by the Academic Council.
  • Test of general knowledge and mathematical logic.
  • Personal interview.
  • Decision phase that may include admission, conditional admission or non-acceptance of the program.
In the evaluation process of the applications the following antecedents are evaluated:
i) Academics:

  • Bachelor degree
  • University
  • Transcript
  • Graduation Ranking
  • Admission test

ii) Professional experience:

  • Years of experience
  • Company where you work
  • Position
  • Letters of recommendation, ideally from a superior of the company where you currently serve or served in the near past. A letter of recommendation from an academic source may be accepted. It must be completed through an online form, sent by the School to the advisors.
  • Professional achievements.

iii) Other background: Considering one of the strategic values of the School is the global vision, the following characteristics of a candidate will be evaluated positively:

  • Female gender.
  • Foreign nationality.
  • Have a global professional experience outside Chile, or work in a company where they interact permanently with foreigners.
  • Other volunteer activities, sport, culture and art, etc. Where the applicant can show outstanding performance.

iv) Personal interview with the academic director of the program or the Director of Admission of the Graduate School

All background information described here including the outcome of the personal interview will be evaluated by the school’s academic committee. The result will be officially communicated by e-mail through a formal letter.

Foreign applicants must legalize an original title at the Chilean Consulate in their country of residence and at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Santiago and subsequently submit a notary´s legalized copy. Chilean applicants must submit a notarized copy of the diploma or certificate of title.

Yes, you must present the diploma or certificate of title to be visas before the Secretariat of Studies of our Faculty. Once this process is done, the original document will be returned.

The ICCI modality is addressed to those applicants who are graduates of FEN UCHILE or who have attended the following courses in other universities: Commercial Engineering (Business Administration or Economics), Industrial Civil Engineering, Information Engineering and Management Control and/or Auditor Accountant.

It should be noted that ICCI professionals who have obtained their degree through a system of pursuing studies or executive modality, must deliver previously the study programs of the courses that must be approved by their university, with which the Academic Committee will evaluate Each case and will determine if the student qualifies or not to belong to this modality, otherwise, must apply to the modality of Other Professionals.

The Professionals of Other Areas category considers all applicants not coming from the aforementioned careers, who must take leveling modules in topics related to the business that will facilitate their performance in the program.

If the student considers that he / she qualifies to belong to the ICCI modality, he/she must present the syllabus or academic pensum of his/her study program of the university of origin, these will be evaluated by the Academic Committee and it will be determined if the applicant can belong to this modality.

Yes, there is the possibility of taking courses in another class format. In addition, the in-depth courses can be taken in relation to the area of study (Finance, Human Resources, Marketing) or in one of the various academic offers that each postgraduate program performs.

Student must take 3 courses of deepening (including the courses of the international week) in the same area of knowledge, for example, finance, marketing or human resources. Should be noticed that even for Sunrise and Antofagasta formats, courses must be taken at School Headquarters, in Diagonal Paraguay 205, Santiago. At the end of the Program you will obtain your MBA degree with specialization in one of the three areas mentioned.

Each format has a different schedule, which adjusts to the diverse needs of our applicants. Each of them is detailed below:

  • Evening MBA: Classes two or three times a week from 18:30 to 21:50 hrs. Saturdays are open for attendance and/or examination. It is given in FEN, Diagonal Paraguay 257, Santiago.
  • Weekend MBA: Classes Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. And Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., twice a month. It is given in FEN, Diagonal Paraguay 257, Santiago.
  • Sunrise MBA: Classes Tuesdays and Thursdays from 07:00 to 10:15 and Saturdays from 09:00 to 12:30. It is dictated in Centro Parque, Parque Araucano, Av. Presidente Riesco 5330, Las Condes.
  • Global MBA Dual Degree: Classes Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., every two or three weeks. It is given in FEN, Diagonal Paraguay 257, Santiago.
  • Antofagasta MBA: Classes Friday from 09:00 to 18:30 hrs. And on Saturdays from 08:30 to 18:00 hrs. Classes twice a month, more exam. It is given in Hotel Terrado, Baquedano #15, Antofagasta.
  • Panama MBA: Classes Thursday and Friday from 18:00 to 22:00 hrs. And Saturdays from 09:00 to 17:00 hrs. Every two weeks. It is dictated in QLU, Calle 45, Bella Vista, Panama City

Yes, each version has an associated early registration discount. That varies between 20% and 5%. The earlier the applicant is enrolled, the greater the discount. Discounts are not cumulative.
